on the edge

We have been busy with being lazy the last couple of days, but have finally found the time between our lazyness to make an outfit post.

Spring is a time to shed your winter skin, forget about the cold, hard days and daydream and plan for the summer that´s just around the corner. Its time for you to set new goals, decide that you want to live on the edge this summer, fulfill your dreams and live your life to the fullest. In autumn you can lie to rest, but summer is the highlight of the year and you should make it wild and unforgettable and then maybe even, if you let it, you could turn it into the highlight of you life. So enjoy the newly shining sun, the new spring air and plan for a new experience this summer.

Reykjavík Fashion Festival

Once a year a couple of top designers in Iceland come together for a festival of Icelandic fashion. This year was the forth year of RFF held at the Harpa music hall in Reykjavík. Seats were filled with Northern European journalists, buyers, fashion bloggers, Icelandic it- people and Americans looking to bring Icelandic design across the the Atlantic. The president of Iceland, Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson opened the festival with a wonderful speech in honour of the Icelandic fashion design and photographer  Roxanne Lowit was the festivals guest of honour.

Here are the designers of the 2013 RFF:

Andersen & Lauth
Andersen & Lauth was the first Icelandic atelier and tailor shop, founded in Reykjavík
1934. Today, there is a team of 4 women behind the label, who are true to the
brand’s history by using the same quality expertise driven by passion for craft and
detail as well as the vibrant and creative cultural scene. The Andersen & Lauth AW13
collection seeks inspiration in the art and cultural scene with a twist of vintage and
romance.

ELLA
Established in 2011, ELLA is a slow fashion brand created by Elínrós Líndal and a
group of talented women with a goal in mind: to bring honesty into the fashion
world. They always put emphasis in high quality fabrics and timeless style. The
collection that will be showcased on RFF is light and reflects their mood for the
season. After recession times the ELLA team feels it is time to celebrate, not in a loud
way but with grace and mindfulness.

Farmers Market
Farmers Market is an Icelandic design company and clothing brand, founded in
2005 by a young artist couple – a designer and a musician. With strong ties to the
vibrant Icelandic music and design scene, the Farmers Market design concept and
inspiration draws from the Icelandic roots, combining classic Nordic design elements
with chic modernity.
Natural fabrics, craftsmanship and respect for the environment are key values of the brand. Authentically styled, yet sophisticated and wearable, the clothing is suited for a wide range of occasions, outdoor activities as well as city life.

Huginn Muninn
“Fine clothing should not define anyone’s path, but help everyone find its own.” – is
the leitmotif of the Icelandic brand Huginn Muninn. Their very first shirt collections
were inspired by Iceland’s history and heritage, the following steps have shifted
the conceptual emphasis into a new route, keeping the genetics of the brand but
opening it to new influences.
Huginn Muninn’s intentions were expressed in the
launch of a branding campaign that will search, find and celebrate those individuals
of all backgrounds that stay true to who they are, embrace their passion and
dedicate their efforts and time into producing the best work possible.

JÖR by Guðmundur Jörundsson
JÖR by GUÐMUNDUR JÖRUNDSSON is an Icelandic fashion label, launched by fashion
designer Guðmundur Jörundsson (best known for his work as a head designer for
the menswear label KORMÁKUR & SKJÖLDUR) and his partner Gunnar Örn Petersen
in October 2012. Their first collection received critical acclaim and blew fresh winds
into the Icelandic fashion scene. The label’s second collection AW 2013 will be
revealed at this year’s Reykjavík Fashion Festival and it will include womenswear as
well as menswear.

Mundi 66°North
Mundi and 66°North are proud to announce a new collaboration between the two companies.
“MUNDI 66°NORTH” is a fusion between the highly technical production quality from 66°North
and the surreal world of Mundi. The collection is called “snow-blind”.

 Rey
Rebekka Jónsdóttir is the designer behind the label REY, a brand that is all about
good quality and honesty. With the aim of making key pieces that will stay favorite in
the clients’ wardrobe, a strong emphasis is put on fabric selection and tailoring. The
objective of REY is to become a favorite and a staple in the customers’ wardrobe.
Creating pieces that are worn time and time again. Founded in 2010 REY strives
to make timeless quality clothing for women. A strong emphasis is put on fabric
selection and tailoring. The design aesthetic is minimal with a twist.

Little thing make us happy

It's no big thing, but you make big things out of little things sometimes. -Robert Duvall

You don't notice that you miss something, till you get it and you are as happy as you can be.
My dad just came home from Bosnia and of course he brought us presents!
I didn't get many things, I got a pair of boots and that is enough. But the Bosnian food and snacks that I got made me the happiest person in the world.

Of course the little one got most presents.

My love! <3

I wanted to show you that it can also be sunny in Iceland.

missing Bosnia

While a snow storm spreads over Iceland me and Nejra daydream of a Bosnian summer. Siting in a cafe in Sarajevo, sipping on real Bosnian coffee, wasting time and doing stuff for "cejf".
The roads are closed, people are advised to stay inside while the storm passes and even inside you can feel the chill of the strong wind. Sitting here makes me desire summer even more, walking down Bascarsija, smelling the smell of cevapi in the air and feeling the spirit of the city.
-Amna

I took this picture a year ago, and I love how it show´s a little piece of Bosnia under our Icelandic mountains.
